R.T Day 24 - MY B-DAY!!! / Kalbarri Nat Park to Port Denison

We were awoken at six by a nice ranger who told us we can not camp there so we packed it up and drove to lookout point. I got to watch a beautiful sunrise for my birthday ad about a “Million Fly’s”!!! We drove to the super mart to get something “special” for breakfast and got some iced coffee, fresh whole grain bread, salami and cheese!!! “Special” hahaha! It was really good though. Kalbarri is supposed to have a daily pelican feeding which we attended but for two days in a row the nice gentleman who does the feeding, Len, said the pelicans have not come cause the river is flooded and they have too much food in the river. We headed in to the Kalbarri National Park, which was about 30 km’s on our first unsealed road with our van. The lady at the visitors center said it is 10c hotter in the park than the town and todays forecast was 38c!!!We went to the Z-bend first which was a nice lookout and a very very cool 2km return trail down the side of the gorge to the Muchinson??? river. Today I just put on a hat, fly net, long shirt and pants to avoid the “millions” of fly’s! They were so nuts, I never have seen anything like it! After our awesome sweaty hike we drove to “Natures Window” which was really nice and we got some great pictures. After the parks and about 3 liters of water each we continued our journey south and drove again during the night to Port Denison. We didn’t see any “no camping” signs so we just pulled up in a parking lot next to the ocean, each had a beer and relaxed for an hour or so. Pretty great birthday if I say so myself!
