We made it to Noosa and went for a walk along the beach and up to the lookout which took up most the day, then went shopping and made a delicious chicken stir fry which was a very nice change from the tuna and instant noodles I have been eating the last two days.

Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo
While waiting for the ride to catch the bus to the zoo a woman, Emily from the U.K. made a last minute decision to come to the zoo. She was also by herself so I asked if she wanted to hang out for the day. The zoo was just as great as I thought it was going to be, and we got to see all the animals. Including being able to feed some elephants and some kangaroo’s we each dished out $10 to get a picture holding a koala, but only one of us could hold it in the end so I let her do it. After that we watched the impressive show including many birds, snakes, elephants, and crocs! Throughout the day I was talking about my next moves and her’s, her’s being staying at the hostel and working for a month, boring!!! So I talked her into coming along with me to Noosa, Rainbow beach, then Fraser Island! We got along pretty well so it will be nice to have a travel buddy for a week or so! She was also a jogger so we went for a jog after we got back to the hostel.

Strady to Maroochydore
I left the island around noon, went back to Brisy and made my next plan. I figured I would stay here cause of the free kayaks and it’s the closest hostel to the “Australia Zoo”, the zoo owned by the Irwin family. I was a fan of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter and I really want to go to his zoo. The hostel had a little special to save a couple bucks so jumped on that and will go to the zoo in the morning! I did go for a run along the river that night to keep up in my efforts of burning off some more vacay blubba!

The “Little Ship Club
Tamsan, this english girl at the hostel had heard about some possible “FREE” sailing going on down the road, so I went along on a whim hopping what she heard was true because I would be missing the hockey! I am so glad I went because I had a blast! It was a race and then some mini-putt golf afterwards. I got teamed up with Mike and Angie on there boat the “Super Goose”, it was a pretty nice racer type sail boat and the favorite to win. Out of 8 boats in the race, we started last and finished first, Oh Yeah!!! I learnt some new things about sailing and even enjoyed a beer while we crossed the finish line. After the race we all played mini-putt and every boat ended up getting a prize in the end. We all socialized for a while and had some drinks and after went down to one of the other boats to have some drinks and some very fresh prawns. We would have liked to stay longer but we had to catch the last bus back to the hostel. It was a super great day with some more awesome locals!

Stradbroke Island a.k.a. Strady
I wasn’t sure about going to this Island but there is a YHA there and it wasn’t too expensive to get over there, also from what I researched about the island it sounded like a nice place with a great scenic walking track. I made it over there mid-day and went for a very long hike, leaving the hostel at about 3pm and made it back around 8pm. I had walked by a bar with Foxtel and hoped they would show the Eastern conference final so that what I planned to do in the morning. Even though I went over there on a Friday there were only about 6 backpackers in the whole hostel, much less than I had figured but they were nice to talk to. I ended up having my own room for the night!

Spring Hill park walk
It was a bit of a late start for today, but when I did make it out I stubbled upon this really nice little park in the middle of the city while making a detour on my way back to the hostel after shopping for my next island adventure!!!

Brisbane
I decided to make my way up to Brisy as they call it, and met a girl from germany, Louisa, traveling alone as well on the bus. Also staying at the YHA we checked in and went for a walk around the city, which is really nice. Walking past a bar I looked inside and Vancouver Game 5 was on the big screen and I managed to talk her into watched it with me! We covered quite a bit of ground around the city and went back to the hostel! The “State of Union” rugby match was being held in brisbane and Queensland won so we went out and partied in the evening!

Sea World
Really hoping for a nice sunny day on the water slides, I got it! There was a bit of a chilly wind standing up on top of the rides waiting to go but not that bad! Sea World has this new slide called the Aqua Loop, where you go inside this chamber and then it goes 3-2-1 and the floor drops out from underneath you and go down around this giant loop!!! Best Waterslide EVER!!! The lines were actually longer to go on the water slides this day than they were to go on the coasters. I recognized 3 girls from the bus the day before and I needed a second person to ride one of the slides so I went on the slide with Rebecca, her friends Gemma and “other” girl! can’t remember her name. They were all from Ireland and we all hung out for the rest of the day, they were nice and going up North as well so we might meet up along the way, we’ll see!

Warner Bros. Movie World
I went to Movie world today and it was AWESOME!!! I am glad I decided to go on a Monday because as I expected there was not too many people there and I was able to ride many times on all the good rides, including 8 times on the new superman ride! They also had a great stunt driver show and many other great attractions, it did start to rain in the afternoon but they never shut anything down. All that happened was the lines got shorter! I put in a great full day there and figure I rode all the main rides around 20 times, 8 on Superman, 5 on Lethal weapon, 3 on the Batwing, 3 on the Scooby Doo and once on the Water Falls ride where I got drenched! Great Day!!!

Surfers Paradise - Walkabout
I checked into Islander Resort Hotel/Hostel right in the heart of Surfers and went for a walk around the city and checked out the shops and stuff. It started to pour rain in the evening so i just chilled around the hostel to get ready for my day tomorrow!
