Hahndorf

I went in to Hahndorf to do the tourist thing, pretty much just walk up and down the street and check out the shops. Stopped in at Pot Belly Pie’s “Voted best in SA” and had a scallop/bacon pie and it was indeed delicious and it was the best in SA because it was the only one I’ve had so far!!!

Christmas Day

On Christmas day Margaret and Peter made breakfast and dinner and snacks all day which was all great food! In the picture is myself the Bec(Megan’s friend), Emma(Megan’s sister), Margaret and Megan. Peter is taking the picture. Emma, who I had never ever met before, even brought me a present to unwrap on Christmas which was very thoughtful. It was a chocolate bar!

Kirby Park Stud farm

Not far from Adelaide, the farm is in Hahndorf, which was a german settlement back in the day, now the whole town is like a tourist attraction. Megan Jones, who own’s the farm, won a silver medal at the beijing olympics in the 3-day eventing courses.

I was shown the feeding schedule and other small jobs regarding the upkeep of the horses on the property, between 40-50 of them!!! There are 6 mares with brand new baby fouls, which are so cute!  My new home was a trailer which is very nice and has everything that I need.

Back to Adelaide YHA

I spent two days at the hostel and a couple friends I had met a few weeks ago had gotten jobs were still there so we hung out and I was weighing my options on what I should do next and decided to give the HELPX a go. There was a horse farm that needed help over the holidays while their staff went home, so I rang them up and she said she would pick me up the next day!

John, Judy’s husband, received a phone call from his sisters who said they were coming the next day to stay with them over the holidays. So she asked me leave so she could give them the spare room, and of course I said it wasn’t a problem. So I packed up my things and went on my way!!!

Another K1 Winery pic

K1 Winery and Kangaroo's

Linda and I went to an amazing winery named K1 and had a tasting and a little platter of nibbles, afterwards we went to Warrawong Kangaroo and Wildlife Park. I got some great pics with some Kangaroo’s giving me high fives. On our way back we stopped in at another winery named Lazy Ballerina for another tasting.
